Colorectal Cancer Canada – Foods that Fight Cancer Program
Colorectal Cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in Canada. The disease is 90% preventable if caught early through screening. Many research studies have shown the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, particularly with the inclusion of healthy eating such as a plant-based diet and inclusion of an exercise program, will help prevent this disease.
Colorectal Cancer Canada is the country’s foremost organization dedicated to saving lives through increasing public awareness of the disease, via research, education and support to patients. The organization has decided to develop a healthy lifestyle program called Foods That Fight Cancer. This program team is collaborating with the Food Innovation and Research Studio (FIRSt) at George Brown College to develop fresh and innovative recipes that contain ingredients to help prevent cancer. The teamwork between experts in this field and culinary professionals will provide a great value add to the materials being developed.
Colorectal Cancer Canada will disseminate the information nationally via their existing network (health professionals and consumers), websites, public relations and social media outlets and copies of the recipes will appear on their website and be distributed during their national Giant Colon Tour.
